Our Chiropractic Techniques

We use a number of highly-effective adjusting approaches to help improve spinal biomechanics and reduce nervous system interference. The approach we use is based on our clinical judgment and years of experience.

The primary adjusting techniques we use include:

Think of an adjustment as “tuning” a piano, adjusting each string so it produces the perfect tone.

Trigger Point Therapy

A bodywork technique that involves the applying of pressure to tender muscle tissue and spasms in order to relieve pain and dysfunction in other parts of the body.  Trigger points are areas of tenderness in a muscle.  There are two basic types of trigger points: active and latent.

Active trigger points cause muscular pain and will refer pain and tenderness to another area of the body when pressure is applied.  Latent trigger points only exhibit pain when compressed and do not refer pain to other areas of the body.  Latent trigger points are believed to be one of the causes of stiff joints and restricted range of motion with old age.

Trigger points may be associated with myofascial pain syndromes or fibromyalgia and are very common.  They are also referred to as muscle knots.

Massage Therapy

Long-standing spinal problems are accompanied by ingrained muscle patterns. Muscle spasms and scar tissue are often involved. By augmenting your chiropractic care with massage therapy, these muscle and soft tissue problems can be addressed. This can help speed your recovery and enhance the retraining of your spine.

If you’ve been to a chiropractor before and prefer to be adjusted in a particular way, let Dr. Conner know. We want you to relax, enjoy and fully benefit from your chiropractic care.
